Duck Duck Goose!

There are tens of thousands of ducks right out the back door on the meadows behind our house. The creek into a small lake then out the other side. There is also a warm spring that runs into the lake. Or as we call it, the reserve. When everything else  freezes up, here they come. The reserve is a nice sanctuary for a lot of wild life.

These pictures don't do justice for how many ducks there were. And the noise when they all took off!

                                                                           Ducks.

                                                                            Geese.

Tonights sunset. It was so red and gorgeous!

                                                                 Thanks for stopping by.

  1. I'm used to massive flights of ducks and geese as the prairies are a major migration route. They are impressive to see.

  4. It is hard to capture large flocks. They transfer from river to fields around me daily. Lovely pics, it is -1 here with a wind chill of -28 so they are all huddled together.

  5. We get lots of ducks and geese through our area, too, near the Quivira National Wildlife Refuge. We just hope they don't eat our winter wheat down to nothing!

  8. That sunset is amazing!

Ducks and geese know instinctively where the open water is going to be, and they will flock to it.
