Quick and Wicked!

We had another wicked day yesterday. It went by quick but was wicked!
Went to a hay stack fire in the late morning. It was 101* out! Not sure how it started. It was last years hay. Still green. Maybe from a power pole they say.
Battled that for 6 hours, just to get home to a HUGE haboob headed up the canyon!
Sweaty, stinky and dirty. No power! Hey, we have a pool! And I'll be, the wind blew the cover off! Cool! Off come the clothes, dive in! Just to get called out again to lightning fires! Power back on today at noon! YEAH! COFFEE! :)

Hay stack fire.

The haboob coming up the canyon. This is at Cameron's parents house. Looking south.

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. A haboob is a dust storm? Lots of action in your day, hope you made it to the pool.

  2. When it rains it pours. At least you could have used rain. when you get a wind storm you get a dandy.

  3. Fire or haboob (I had to Google that one) neither one looks like fun. I hope you are safe and Cameron's folks are ok after the dust storm. Maybe you can catch a break in the heat.

It has been hot here too. The farmer's harvesting wheat are glad to see some heat. We could really use a rain soon.

  4. What a horrible mess! I'm glad you were able to get it out. But 6 hours of fighting is HUGE!

  5. What a day this must have been....glad you lived to tell the tale! I had to look up the word 'haboob'--had never heard it before that I remember. Do you get them often? And how did you survive 6 hrs of fighting a fire in that heat?

  9. Not a site that I would want to see. Glad that it didn't spread any further than the pile. We used to have a pool but everyone quit using it, so, out it went. Glad you were able to cool yourselves off!
